On Nov.13rd 2017, the teach-in of University of California, Irvine (UCI) was held in room B312 in the new building of DUT Faculty of Management and Economics. 38 students attended the meeting. The content of the meeting mainly includes the two-week summer program and the 1+1 dual degree program for postgraduate students. Vice director of the Paul Merage Business School of UCI---Joe Davenport offered detailed information about related policies.
Founded in 1964, University of California, Irvine is located in Owen City in State of California. UCI won the 1st place in the ranking of “World’s Public Universities which own a historyshorter than 50 years” in 2012, and ranked the 9th in the “World Public Universities” set by U.S.News & World Report press. UCI is a education and academic center that is creative and strong in economy. UCI lies near the Pacific Ocean, which grants it a pleasant climate--- dry in summer and warm in winter. The average temperature in summer and winter is 27 degrees and 21 degrees respectively.
First, the timing of 2018 summer program is from July 29th to August 10th 2018. The program includes 8 lectures and 2 company visits. The content of lectures are as follows: Entrepreneurship, Ethics, Conflict management, Creative thinking, Business and Our World Today, Professional Presence, Innovation: Personal Branding, Our New Cross-cultural World. Company visits include New Balance and other companies.
Furthermore, the 1+1 dual degree program for postgraduates held jointly by DUT FME and UCI includes: Master of Finance, Master of Accounting and Master of Business Analytics. FME hopes that students who apply for theses programs could be admitted once they get the grades of TOEFL or IELTS (with no needs for GMAT or GRE). Students without qualified English language skills may attend a 10-week language training program at the UCI, after which they could enter the master’s program. In addition, students with a master’s degree in Business Analysis could enjoy the opportunity to stay in the United States for 36 months for work and internship.
At last, students raised questions concerning tuition fees, GPA requirements, accommodation and so on according to their own conditions. Joe answered these questions respectively. DUT FME is committed to develop the internationalization level of our students, open the students’ international vision, and to develop the student life pattern. We have set up a number of international platforms for our students (summer programs, winter programs, student exchange programs, dual degree programs, etc.), which have provided students with more ascending with the opportunity to show themselves. The summer program has been successfully held for three consecutive years, FME has sent a total of 33 students. Each student is welcomed to sign up, the program will continue to meet with everyone next year. Never forget the original intention, we have always been there. FME, together with all our students, has been forging ahead to reach the “clearest part” in our hearts.
